Do you consider yourself morally tainted?

i look back on my own life, and even though i didn't do anything very bad, i can still see that i'm not above pettiness and cruelty. I know that the thing that separates me from people on the news getting hauled away to jail isn't my inner goodness, but my luck to have a positive environment. How can anyone feel pure when the only thing that keeps them from being a selfish, vulture-like monster is the nicely structured society with it's system of punishments and rewards that keeps them in line?
