How to help someone who is so depressed and heartbroken that?

they cant eat, barely sleeps, wont c a doctor, and does nothing except think and hope in desperation? no tv, no radio, doesnt go out, nothing. what can i, or anyone, do? please, please help me. this is my dad, please try. thank you
